The Post’s three-show theatrical season launches with the unqualified hit that played to sold-out audiences in its first two Savannah runs. KEN is based on a short story by Arnold Sundgaard, produced by Stratton Leopold and directed and adapted for the stage by Tom Coleman, III.
KEN will be filmed during all three performances in order to interest other theatres in further productions of the show. Come be part of our live audience for the intro, soundtrack and conclusion of the film!
Originally a short story, KEN was published in The New Yorker Magazine in 1959. The script is based on that short story and tells the true account of a nightmarish train ride the writer took in 1933 while he was a student at the Yale Drama School. When a fellow student dies, he is elected – under pressure – to take the boy’s body back to his parents’ home in Portland, Oregon. The action centers around his trip, the funeral and the events that changed Arnold’s life.
